Keeping it Real

By Devyn F.

Speaking up can be hard, especially when you don’t know exactly what to say. “Think before you speak!” and  “Don’t speak unless spoken to!” are often ingrained in our minds and can cause us to overthink responses or even deter us from speaking at all. Trust me, I’ve been there. When in the classroom, thinking before you speak is good advice, but do not be afraid to make mistakes. Oftentimes in high school you might be given the opportunity to speak, but you do not because you don’t believe your voice matters. It does. Your voice matters. Whether you stumble over your words or do not have many words to say, still speak up. It’s all about your journey in becoming a better you. You got this, sis!
