Impact of human activities on the environment:

  • Overpopulation: the condition where the existing human population exceeds Earth’s carrying capacity

  • Pollution: the introduction of harmful materials like trash or factory runoff into the environment

  • Burning fossil fuels: the burning of oil, natural gas, and coal for energy like electricity

  • Deforestation: the intentional clearing of forested land

Human health and the environment: The cleanliness of the environment is directly linked with human’s access to:

  • Clean air and water

  • Fertile land for food production

  • Energy and material inputs for production

Energy conservation: Energy conservation is the effort to reduce energy consumption to prevent resource depletion.

Helpful Tip: Energy conservation could look like turning off the water faucet when in

between brushing your teeth or driving less, to name a few.
