Chemistry
Chemical bonds: Chemical bonds hold atoms and ions together to form molecules through the electrical forces of attraction.
Helpful Tips: There are three main properties of chemical bonds:
Strength, Length and, Polarity
4 types of chemical bonds:
-
Ionic
-
Covalent
-
Hydrogen
-
Metallic
Solubility: Solubility is the ability of a substance/ solute to form a solution with another substance to create the solvent.
What is a solvent?
A substance that dissolves in another substance.
What is a solute?
The part of the solution that is dissolved by the solvent.
Compressibility:The behavior of gases: Compressibility measures how much the volume of matter decreases when under pressure.
Helpful Tip: An increase in the pressure will increase the amount of gas particles.
Decrease in gas volume produces an increase in gas pressure.
Factors that affect gas pressure:
-
Amount of gas
-
Volume of the container
-
Temperature
