Evolution: Evolution is the change in a species’s characteristics over time. The process relies on natural selection. Natural selection is a process by which organisms adapt to their environment to survive.
Helpful Tip: Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution states that evolution happens through natural selection.
Anatomy: Anatomy is the branch of science that studies body structures. There are three broad areas of anatomy: human anatomy, animal anatomy (zootomy), and plant anatomy (phytotomy).
Genetics: Genetics explains how DNA sequences influence the qualities and traits that are passed from parents to offspring. It is also the study of organisms.

Mendelian 4 principles of genetics:
An organism’s traits are determined by its genes
Each organism have two alleles that make up the genotype for that given trait
In sexual reproduction, each parent contributes exactly one allele to its offspring
In each genotype, there is a dominant allele. If it exists in an organism, the phenotype is determined by that allele
Cells:A cell is the fundamental, structural and functional unit of all life
Kingdom classification:
What is being classified?
Plants and animals are being classified
The eight Kingdoms from classifications are:
-
Domain
-
Kingdom
-
Phylum
-
Class
-
Order
-
Family
-
Genus
-
Species
Helpful Tips: You can remember these classifications if you remember “Dear King Philip Came Over For Good Soup.”
